John Brotherton, CFP®Vice President, Co-Head Of Office, Torrey Pines
John Brotherton, Torrey Pines, enjoys helping his clients with the many facets of their financial and estate planning needs, charting their course for a lifetime of financial independence. He is co-head of office for the San Diego and Scottsdale locations of Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, within the Asset & Wealth Management business of Goldman Sachs. His experience ranges from asset management to retirement plan design, along with a focus on taxes, trusts, and estate planning.
John began his career in 1981 as a financial advisor with Integrated Resources, Inc. Since then, he has worked with various financial institutions, including Inland, American Express Financial Advisors, Security Pacific Bank, and the Acacia Group. Later in his career, he became owner and managing partner of Brotherton Investment Consultants, LLC, before it was acquired by United Capital, which is now Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management.
John attended Emmaus Christian College in Oak Park, Illinois, and Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he majored in Finance. John received his board designation as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) from the College of Financial Planning. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Phoenix.
A third-generation Phoenix native, John resides in Scottsdale, AZ with his wife. He has two adult sons, twin daughters, two daughters-in law, and two lovely granddaughters. John serves on the board of two non-profit organizations, loves the outdoors, enjoys spending time boating in San Diego, and camping.
