Herbert C. Rosenthal


Herbert C. Rosenthal has been affiliated with Westport Resources Management, Inc., now a Division of United Capital, since 1987. His risk management activities include life insurance, disability income and employer benefit programs, group insurance, retirement plans and executive compensation programs. He also serves Westport Resources’ client needs in the area of personal financial planning. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant. He holds an insurance producer’s license for life, annuities, accident and health, and property and casualty.Herbert is a past President of the Western Connecticut Estate and Tax Planning Council.

Herbert specializes in municipal benefit programs with a unique understanding of issues confronting towns and cities. For five terms, he served as First Selectman, the Chief Executive Officer, of the town of Newtown and its 28,000 residents. Herbert is a two-term past President of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Inter-Local Risk Management Agency, a past Chairman of the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials and a past Co-Chairman of the Housatonic Valley Economic Development Partnership.

Herbert also served as Chairman of the Newtown Board of Education and was Chairman of the Board of Education Connection, serving 33 towns in Northwestern Connecticut, for 10 years.

Herbert is a corporator of the Newtown Savings Bank and a member of the President’s Advisory Council of Masonicare at Newtown (a nursing home and assisted living facility.) He currently serves Newtown as an elected official, a member of the Board of Health for the Newtown Health District and as Treasurer of the Housatonic Valley Resource Recovery Authority.

Herbert has a BA in Government from Fairfield University and holds the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant from American College.
