Richard Chase, CPA/PFS

Richard Chase is the Managing Director of the United Capital office in Western Massachusetts, formerly Family Wealth Management. A Certified Public Accountant with more than 30 years of professional experience, he has specialized in tax, financial and investment planning for the past 25 years.
In 1990, Rich became one of the first CPAs in Massachusetts to earn the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation, established for CPAs who specialize in personal financial planning and awarded exclusively to members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants who have demonstrated considerable experience and expertise in that area. The CPA/PFS designation is held by fewer than 1 percent of all CPAs throughout the United States. Fewer than 2,500 CPAs out of more than 470,000 nationwide have achieved the PFS designation. Rich is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), which is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to the advancement of fee-only comprehensive financial planning.

On a national level, Rich has been a speaker at the AICPA National Investment Planning Conference and has served as an instructor for the AICPA’s Personal Financial Planning Certificate of Educational Achievement Program.

Rich received his BSBA in Accounting (Summa Cum Laude) from Boston University and his MBA from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, Inc.

When he’s not working, Rich enjoys spending time with his wife, golfing and working out in the gym and swimming pool. In his younger days, he spent seven weeks bicycling cross-country from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Community service is also important to Rich, having been involved with several volunteer nonprofit organizations, including the Jimmy Fund, Jewish Geriatric Services Inc. and many other community agencies.
